After struggling with form throughout the season, Aston Villa seem to be hitting form at just the right stage in the season. The team has managed just two defeats in the last five matches – in a run that also includes two wins as well. This has propelled the team from the relegation zone into the 17th position. They also hold a four point gap between them and the relegation zone, and the manager Paul Lambert is now a happy man. He has said that the work is not over yet, and it is important that the team maintain the momentum gained from the recent form.

The summer signing Christian Benteke has been a major reason for the uplift of form over the last few weeks. The 22-year-old has managed 12 goals in the league for Villa. Due to the fact that Villa will be facing the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in the next few matches, it is imperative for the team that they do not lose the momentum. The club will be facing one of their relegation rivals QPR during the weekend. This match will take place at Villa Park, thus giving the team an opportunity to build on the two wins they have achieved in the last five home matches.

“We will go again now but we have gained a lot of momentum and against QPR, we will have a massive crowd behind us. The confidence in the team is extremely high. If the crowd, players, staff and everyone stick together we’ll keep going. It will help our mental strength being out of the relegation zone. But I don’t think we have looked like a team down there. If you look at the table there’s not a lot of daylight with the teams down there. It’s very close,” said Lambert.
