HOW REAL MADRID WILL LINEUP NEXT SEASON

Real Madrid have come underpressure ahead of the new season after their disappointing 7-3 loss to rivals Atletico Madrid the match gave an indication if the problems affecting the Spanish outfit and does not bode well for the club moving forward. However manager ZinedineZidane still has time to decide his first 11. In this article we look at the possible players that could feature in the starting lineup for the club next season.

Belgium stopper ThibautCourtois should be the undisputed number one despite competition from Costa Rica international KeylorNavas. Courtois has endured a difficult start to his Real Madrid career after completing his dream move from Chelsea last summer.

In the defenceCarvajal remains one of the best rightbacks in the business and was one of the few Madrid players that performed well last season. Zidane would also have to take the difficult decision of benching leftback Marcelo for new signing FerlandMendy. Marcelo has been a great servant for the club but his best days appear to be long gone.

In central defence the pairing of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane has been steady in the past few seasons and should begin the season but new signing Militao could break into the first team as heposses quality.

Real Madrid also have to make key decisions in the middle of the park the trio of Casemerio, Tony Kroos and Luca Modric floundered last season. The signing of Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen could bring the much needed energy to the midfield.

Upfront is where Madrid strength lie, Belgium forward Eden Hazard would have to shoulder most of the attacking responsibility after moving from Chelsea.  While French forward KarimBenzema and Luka Jovic could complete an attacking trio in the 4-3-3 formation favoured by manager Zidane. Welsh forward Gareth Bale has an outside chance depending on whether he regains his form.

SARRI BACKS HIGUAIN

Despite Gonzalo Higuain not living up to the expectations at Chelsea after having been roped in on loan in the second half of the ongoing season, Maurizio Sarri has still insisted that he intends to work with the forward in the next season.

According to Sarri, this is the first time Higuain is featuring in the English top tier and it hasn’t been easy for a lot of players to come to England and produce the goods straightaway. Even some of the superstar players had a tough time in England when they first came here.

Matteo Politano speaks after Inter Milan’s Champions League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur

Italy international Matteo Politano has said that Inter Milan will focus on winning the final Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven next month following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in midweek. Speaking after the game, Politano acknowledged that the club were expecting a difficult encounter against Spurs and they were eventually left disappointed after conceding during the dying stages of the encounter, he said: “We knew that today’s match would be a very difficult one with Tottenham at their best. We played well in the first half when we did not concede much, in the second half it felt like we controlled the game, when all of a sudden their goal came out of the blue.”
