HAZARD SET FOR THIRD UCL APPEARANCE

 

Real Madrid star Eden Hazard is in line to make his third Champions League outing of the season when his Spanish team take on Inter Milan at the San Siro in the standout game of matchday four. Hazard and Real Madrid are guests ofItalian Serie A giants Inter Milan on Wednesday night with the two teams desperate to secure a much needed result in Group B. Ahead of the game, Inter Milan and Real Madrid occupy fourth and third position respectively in the four-team group. In the other group game, German Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach host Shakthar Donetsk FC of Ukrainein one of the two early games on Wednesday. The reverse fixture ended in a 6-0 win for Group B leaders Borussia Moenchengladbach at the home of the Ukrainians. French striker Alassane Plea was the star of the show after he scored three goals.

Eden Hazard made his return to the Real Madrid squad over the weekend having missed the last league game before the international break, a 4-1 defeat to hosts Valencia, after testing positive to Covid-19 alongside club teammate Casemiro. He was forced to miss the three Belgium games during the recently concluded international break. Eden Hazard was absent for the friendly game with Switzerland at home which ended in a 2-1 win as well as the 2-0 win and 4-2 win over England and Denmark respectively in the UEFA Nations League thereby sealing a place in the finals of the competition slated for next year.

Eden Hazard made his return from a positive Covid-19 result over the weekend having posted a negative result. He played 65 minutes before making way for Brazilian international Vinicius Jr. The €100m signing from Chelsea last summer has two appearances in the Champions League this season and he’s expected to start the aforementioned Inter Milan game for his third appearance in the competition.
